If it is a typical ‘Western culture’ funeral you should always wear black (or other dark colors) unless it is an unconventional funeral or you have been asked to wear white – otherwise it may cause offense.
It mostly matters on your culture though. Many African, South American, and Indonesian funerals would require bright and colorful clothing. This is because the celebrate a death like it’s a birthday.
